FALL INTO THE SEASON THIS HARVEST IN SONOMA COUNTY

Visitors to this bucolic region, just one hour north of San Francisco, can experience an array of out-of-the-box explorations at wineries throughout the area. With harvest in full swing, the colors of fall make this the perfect time to visit Sonoma County and take in tastings and events including:
Harvest Dinner at Merriam Vineyards

Join winemaker David Herzberg and Owner Peter Merriam for this harvest celebration.  This year’s festivities will be catered by Jeff and Susan Mall of Zin Restaurant in Healdsburg.  Reservations are limited to 40 seats for this very special event and it promises to be a wonderful evening of wine, food and waxing poetic about the future of the grapes fermenting to wine in the tanks and barrels surrounding the dinner. 
 
Fall Release Party at John Tyler Wines and Bacigalupi Vineyards

To celebrate harvest, guests are invited to stop by and taste a new release, the 2007 Bacigalupi Vineyard Zinfandel. This much anticipated vintage promises to be worth the wait and John Tyler Wines will also be pouring some select library wines including the 2005 Pinot Noir. Guests can be a vintner for the day and try their hand at sugar sampling!  Enjoy small bites and relax under the oak trees in beautiful Russian River Valley.
 
Bella Vineyards and Wine Caves Annual Harvest Celebration

There’s no time like harvest in wine country. The air is filled with energy, excitement and the fantastic smell of fermenting grapes! Bella will be celebrating the season in all its autumn glory with one of its legendary harvest parties. Kick off your shoes and curl your toes in the grass as you soak up the Bluegrass sounds of local favorites The Brothers Comatose on the Bella lawn. Guests are also invited to join in the fun at the grape-stomping competition. Bella’s spectacular caves will be open, and the winery will be showcasing a special selection of highly anticipated new release wines alongside tasty food bites, including delicious autumn chili and cornbread prepared by Chef Bruce Frieseke.
 
Crepes and Croquet at Clos du Bois Winery

Jumping on the red hot phenomenon of the “Food Truck” scene, Clos du Bois Winery has partnered with Ultra Crepes to provide an afternoon of great food and croquet.  The lawn will be transformed into two croquet courts allowing for simultaneous matches to take place.  While waiting to play or just being a spectator, guests can enjoy freshly made crepes from a local Sonoma County food truck while sipping Clos du Bois wines and listening to live music.  Bring a blanket and plan an afternoon basking in the warmth of the Alexander Valley sun.
 
Chefs’ Harvest at Seghesio Family Vineyards

Celebrate wine country’s most festive time of year with an epicurean extravaganza. The second annual Chefs' Harvest will showcase the versatility of Zinfandel with unique cuisine crafted by some of the nation’s top chefs. Meet Seghesio Executive Chef Peter Janiak and his special guests — James Beard Award winner Michael Schlow of Boston’s Radius and “Top Chef Masters,” “Iron Chef” winner and Foundry on Melrose mastermind Eric Greenspan, and Gayle Pirie and John Clark of San Francisco’s acclaimed Foreign Cinema — as they pair delectable culinary designs with their favorite Seghesio wines. Ian Scherer and Fat City will perform upbeat jazz tempos, capping off an unforgettable evening in our beautiful grove.
 
Wood Fired Festival at J. Keverson Winery/Old Roma Station Wine District

Experience harvest, hands on! Come tour, taste and enjoy. Explore the vineyards and learn how to check ripeness and pick grapes. At the winery, guests can visit the crush pad, participate in punch down, taste pure juice and be part of the grape-to-glass process and then taste the award-winning results.
 
Harvest Production Tour and Tasting at Mauritson Wines

Meet at Mauritson Wines tasting room for a day full of action and fun!
