Portalupi Wine

Jane Portalupi and Tim Borges began Portalupi Wine in 2002 after traversing the premium wine business for many years. Their wines are inspired by their rich Italian heritage and expressed through Tim’s artistic and statement style of winemaking. The goal is to produce flavorful, intense wines that define the Portalupi  style. Every wine is bursting with flavor and the intensity is part of a greater balance. An important factor in achieving this balance is working with growers whose farming practices give optimum flavor and potential to the wines.

Enjoy everyone’s favorite, “Bianco”  a proprietary white blend that screams refreshing;  Vermentino;  Vaso di Marina, a red wine blend in a larger format for everyday enjoyment, award winning Zinfandels  and Pinot Noir, best of class Barbera and a sensuous Port for the finale.

Tim and Jane have taken a leading edge approach to their tasting room offering the latest in technology to stay connected;  a Wine Education Center with daily classes; wines by the glass; their line of infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars all presented in a contemporary, yet engaging ambiance .

Open daily from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm. Big wines, big personality, come and enjoy all that is Portalupi!

New Wine Releases

2012 Antone M. (Dec 7, 2014)
Our 2012 Port is classic in every sense. Made in true Old World Style from the noble Touriga Roriz grape, after two years of barrel aging the tannins meld into a refined backbone. The wine has graceful ripe fruit which translates to flavors of black cherry, allspice, scents of berry.Much like the great Portos, this wine could be single Quinta classified. What this simply means is you can enjoy now but in 2020 you will experience liqueur like elegance.

2013, Serres Ranch, Sonoma Valley (Dec 7, 2014)
Located by Glen Ellen, Serres Ranch was established in 1924. The ranch is nestled in the Valley of the Moon, where surrounding mountains narrow down to the smallest part of the valley, creating its own unique micro climate suitable for growing world class red wines. The nearly 300 acre ranch has raised dairy cattle, beef cattle, row crops and wine grapes. Serres Ranch has long been well known through the valley as producing some of the finest red wines, including our Zinfandel. This wine shows bright sweet cherries, raspberry fruit with touches of peppercorn and clove with balanced oak tones. The round, sweet spice and fruit of this wine almost late harvest ~ like, makes this wine a perfect match with rich smoked meats and/or even dessert. A must “Big Boy” style Zin with an oppulent, rich offering.

2013 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast (Dec 7, 2014)
On a hillside in the Petaluma Gap, this vineyard benefits from the influence of the Pacific Ocean. Medium ruby color; deep, spicy red cherry and earthy aromas, the wine is solid with complex, red cherry and spice flavors and earthy notes. The wine’s juicy mouthfeel is supported by centered acidity building with intensity to the fine grain tannins on the finish. Drinks well upon release, but will enhance with aging up to five years.

2013 Old Vine Zinfandel, Dolinsek Ranch, Russian River Valley (Dec 7, 2014)
Dolinsek Ranch, a magical vineyard planted over 104 years ago by the Frati family, has produced outstanding wines throughout this century. The soil is a rich sandy-Goldridge loam and is located just off the famous Laguna Road in Russian River Valley. Jim Dolinsek, owner and grower, has meticulously cared for each and every vine with a passion. The 2013 vintage shows elegance and length, medium tannins, coupled with lush liquor like berry fruit and white pepper for a truly unique sensory experience.Superb with grilled meats and sharp, earthy cheeses.

2013 Barbera, Shake Ridge, Amador County (Dec 7, 2014)
Our 2013 Barbera grapes come from one of the most highly sought after vineyards in California. Shake Ridge Vineyard is located in the Sierra Foothills along a ridge 1,650–1,810 feet above sea level, overlooking the town of Sutter Creek. Renowned grower, Ann Kraemer is one of the most highly respected figures in the wine world. In short order, this vineyard has proven to be a true star. The wine is massive in an ultra d’Alba tradition, layer after layer of dark fruits and exotic spices, truffles, slate and pure power. Delivering fruit with depth of flavor, color and structure, it provides a true Italian style experience. Barbera is re-emerging as a sought after wine and we at Portalupi have been at the forefront of producing some of the best Barbera available.
