Mauritson Family Winery
HISTORY: Since the 1870's, the Mauritson family has been growing grapes in the Dry Creek Valley, selling the fruit to many top wineries in Sonoma County. Six generations and 140 years later, we decided to take advantage of our own bounty and start making wine under the Mauritson label. In 1998 the first vintage of Mauritson Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel was produced and the Mauritson Family Winery began.
WINEMAKING: It's been said many times... great wines begin with great grapes. With 270 acres of vineyard in Sonoma County (including 120 acres in Alexander Vallley, 110 acres in Dry Creek Valley and 40 acres in Rockpile) we are not only able to source the absolute best of each vintage, we are also able to meticulously follow our passions... to preserve the unique characteristics of each vineyard. To do this the harvested grapes are handled separately in “small lots” throughout fermentation, allowing the winemaker to bring the individual lots to their fullest potential before the final blending.
