2012 Zinfandel, Margaret
Alexander Valley
Tasting Notes: This wine is every Zin lover’s dream…intense, dark and rich. It begins with a burst of ripe black raspberry and pepper on the nose, while traces of black licorice and oak dance in the background. The smooth, luscious entry repeats the tones found in the aromas, adding a layer of intensity and a deliciously long finish. A juicy mix of blackberry and boysenberry blends with creamy mocha, spicy pepper and anise, bathing the palate as it lingers. This rich beauty can be enjoyed solo, but will also pair well with wild game stew, grilled ribeyes or a savory osso buco.

2012 Zinfandel, Todd Brothers
Alexander Valley
Tasting Notes: This complex, sophisticated Zin offers the classic aromas of a robust, well-structured wine. Savor scents of vanilla oak wrapped with hints of opulent berry and earth and spice notes. The velvety mouthfeel is laced with gourmet black pepper and traces of youthful tannins. A wave of delicious, perfectly ripened fruit—dark cherry and black raspberry—appears mid-palate along with creamy mocha and dark cocoa notes. As the wine finishes, a rich berry and spicy pepper essence lingers with just a touch of chocolate. Enjoy this wine with a hearty shepherd’s pie, a juicy New York strip steak, or Italian sausage, spinach and ricotta cannelloni.

2011 Cabernet Franc, Ramazzotti
Alexander Valley
Tasting Notes: Gentle aromas of ripe red-toned fruit and forest floor mingle with subtle fine-grained oak and dusty tannins. A bright, spicy fruit entry flows into the juicy mid-palate where red currant, creamy mocha and hints of caramel and cola appear. This well-integrated, refined wine finishes with hints of oak and cigar box that linger. As a medium-bodied Cab Franc, it will pair well with barbequed chicken or cedar-planked grilled salmon, as well as a traditional choice like a Porterhouse steak.
