Russian River Vineyards

At Russian River Vineyards, we produce award winning wines, but we keep a strong connection to the roots of our product. We are farmers first. We take our craft seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We respect and honor the special place we are fortunate enough to work, and we want our customers to enjoy it and fall in love with it as we have. So we strive to make our winery a welcoming, warm place for everyone. We hope you will come by and visit us.

Geyserville Inn

Tucked amidst the picturesque vineyards and mountains of Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley, the Geyserville Inn is the quintessential Northern California Wine Country getaway and the only area hotel surrounded by vineyards. Our recently renovated rooms and suites blend all the comfort and elegance of a contemporary boutique hotel with the intimacy, warmth, and unhurried ambiance of a rustic bed and breakfast. Our onsite restaurant the Geyserville Grille offers tasty, farm-to-table meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Woodenhead Wines

WineStopper’s stop of the week is Woodenhead where Zina Bower is showcasing Woodenhead’s 2016 Pinot Noir from Russian River. With many delicious Pinot’s at Woodenhead, Zina chose a Gold Medal winner from the 2021 American Fine Wine Competition, June 2021. Enjoy a tasting on the patio overlooking endless vineyards.

Here is what is in the bottle:

Appellation Russian River
Vineyard(s) Buena Tierra Vineyard
Varietal Pinot Noir
Vintage 2016
Blend 100%
Fermentation Malolactic
Elevage Unfined, Unfiltered
Winery Notes A medium bright and clear ruby, it always strikes me that the aromatics are almost velvety with raspberry, plum and spice. A hint of rhubarb pie, mushroom in warm composted earth. The flavors come forth with a dignified intensity of raspberry, cherry, plum and sandalwood, a Sauvage aspect that intrigues. Hard to say if it’s totally fruit driven, or herbal, or warm earth. Complex is the word… One of a kind, as always. A piece of Rare Earth in a higher dimension. Silken, elegant and distinguished, simply magnificent, as always. I just guide it…. Pair with any complex subtly spiced Asian dishes.
Price $65

Thanks so much for the map. Heading down to Sonoma County for time along the Wine Road is our favorite get-away. Wineries are great, scenery is stunning. Perfecto!

We love to escape winter in Chicago and head to Sonoma County. We discover new wineries and make new friends. It seems we always start planning our next trip when we're on our way home!

Bob R. Chicago

Because of the podcasts that you and Marcy conduct, I am planning a trip to stay in Sonoma. Your descriptions and sense of fun make a slightly longer drive meaningful. Keep up the good work.
