Limerick Lane Cellars

Inside Limerick Lane Winery's tasting room with wood paneling, wood tasting bar and distressed white ceiling.

Limerick Lane is a 30-acre estate located in the northeast corner of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. In an appellation that’s renowned for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, we grow and produce world-class Zinfandel and Rhone varietals. We sit at an exact point where soil, water levels, rocks, sunshine, wind, and fog meet. Located just 3 miles from downtown Healdsburg and 1 hour north of San Francisco, Limerick Lane sits on a dead-end road in the middle of century-old vineyards. Indoor and outdoor tastings by appointment. Limerick Lane Cellars

Idlewild Wines

The Winestopper popped into Idlewild Wines’ tasting room, right off the Healdsburg Plaza and met with Tom, who explained just how special their wines are. All of their wines are Piedmontese varietals, and this 2020 Nebbiolo is an Estate wine with a 90-day maceration and 3 years of élevage. Per Idlewild Wines’ description: ” The nose is a study in contrasts: roses, orange peel, mint, and cherry are balanced by tar, earth, rust, and sandalwood like spice. The mouthfeel is light and delicate and then gently rolls into a very firm and long structure.”  Delicious!

Thanks so much for the map. Heading down to Sonoma County for time along the Wine Road is our favorite get-away. Wineries are great, scenery is stunning. Perfecto!

We love to escape winter in Chicago and head to Sonoma County. We discover new wineries and make new friends. It seems we always start planning our next trip when we're on our way home!

Bob R. Chicago

Because of the podcasts that you and Marcy conduct, I am planning a trip to stay in Sonoma. Your descriptions and sense of fun make a slightly longer drive meaningful. Keep up the good work.
