We Need Your Help At The Redwood Empire Food Bank
The first Thursday of EVERY month Wine Road coordinates volunteers to sort food, help create food boxes, bag fresh veggies…a variety of things need to be done. The need for help is huge, they go through pallets and pallets of food every day of the year – not just at the holidays!
Volunteers arrive at 9:00am and work for two hours. We need to have 8-10 people each month, but if we had 20 or more it would be even better.
Ask anyone that has volunteered and they will tell you it is very rewarding. The staff at the REFB has done an amazing job of streamlining the processes. Thousands of pounds of food will arrive in crates, which they then need to have sorted and package into smaller boxes or bags. It’s in and out of their warehouse within a day or two. The process is state of the art, food banks around the country use them as a model. You will be in awe of what they accomplish with teams of volunteers!
We’re happy to have one person from a member winery or lodging volunteer, you are also welcome to invite your family or friends to join you (just let us know) or a member winery or lodging may want to schedule a morning as a team building exercise. Get 10 people from your business to work together. Once a year our entire Board of Directors volunteers together and they say it’s a highlight of the year.
With 200 winery and 50 lodging members, representing 1000’s of employees, it should be EASY to find 10 volunteers each month.
