Route 128 Vineyards & Winery
From car parts to artisan wines…Henry Ford opened one of his first Ford distributorships in tiny Geyserville. Today, what was then the parts department, has been transformed into Route 128 Winery’s tasting room. Pete and Lorna Opatz, with a combined experience of 60 years in the fine wine business, opened their tiny tasting room in the summer of 2008 featuring their estate grown and vineyard select wines. Pete having grown up on his family vineyard in the midst of Napa Valley has spent 37 years honing his winegrowing skills throughout the State of California, including 6 years internationally. He and Lorna purchased their property along Highway 128, combined their skills and together became producers of limited quantity lots, currently making 450 cases annually. What Route 128 lacks in space is made up in charm, intimacy, and stylish wines. Hung from the walls are historic prints from the dealership days. On special occasions, their nephew Rian Rinn, whose extensive culinary path has taken him to a number of high end restaurants, including El Bulli in Spain, prepares wonderful pairings with Route 128’s award winning wines.
