Native New Englanders Peter and Diana Merriam first envisioned a French-style winery in the United States during their honeymoon in France, where they were struck by the rich culture of food and wine and the seamless quality between life and work among French vignerons. After more than a five-year search for the perfect vineyard with pedigree, they purchased Windacre in 2000 and began blending French-style wines on the warmest edge of the Russian River Valley.

Since acquiring Windacre in 2000, Peter Merriam has taken the first step in creating blends with true vineyard character by complementing the original merlot vines with cabernet franc, petit verdot, and cabernet sauvignon. In other words, the true blending of Merriam estate wines begins in the estate Windacre Vineyard.

In 2008 Merriam Vineyards proudly introduced their new winery and tasting room, where visitors are invited to cross cultures as they taste California-crafted Bordeaux-style wines in a tasting room designed to reflect the comfort and warmth of a New England-style home.

Details: Come join Winemaker David Herzberg and Proprietor Peter Merriam for a very special evening of great food by candlelight and an exclusive focus on our estate wines. Peter Merriam and David Herzberg will share insider stories and a laugh or two about how our 24 acre estate came to be. Our dinner will be prepared by a Chef Jeff Mall of Zin Restaurant and we will dine in our intimate event room between our barrel room and wine making facility. Because of the size of this space this event will be limited to 30 people. This will be our premier winemaker dinner of the year.
