New Wine Releases2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mar 1, 2014)
2011 brought on weather that Cabernet Sauvignon is made for. Cool summer highs and an early rain led to a late harvest at lower brix and nuanced flavors. A nose of clove and black cherry with a touch of vanillin will greet your senses as you pour a glass from your decanted bottle. Sip and sip again to realize the lovely cola, plum and a caramelized maple toasty-ness from the 30% French oak add delicious layers to this “Quintessential Alexander Valley” Cabernet Sauvignon. Coming into balance at a slightly lower alcohol and subdued tannins and acids, this wine doesn’t need to hide in the cellar for long. Decant and enjoy a bottle tonight, or hold until 2019 ~ Tim Hardin, Winemaker
2011 Sangiovese (Feb 15, 2014)
The 2011 Sangiovese is our 13th vintage from neighboring Fanucchi Ranch. And each year as the previous vintage begins to dwindle staff and locals alike begin to anticipate the next release of this locally world famous wine. There’s something unique about our Sangiovese, something that draws you to it weekly, possibly daily as a casual bottle to enjoy with everything from grilled salmon to a traditional rich pasta sauce. Is it the lovely floral notes? Or possibly the dried cherries or rich black tea leaf? 2011 is a savory wine, striking balance between a hint of sweet maraschino cherry and salted caramel. The great acidity leaves your mouth watering for another sip…or possibly another bottle. Enjoy now or hold until 2016 ~Tim Hardin, Winemaker
