Roles & Responsibilities: Responsibilities Manages the activity of the Tasting Room/Retail space (40%) --- In conjunction with the Homeplace Manager, makes hiring decisions for the hospitality department including training, supervising and developing the tasting room staff as well as developing work schedules for regular and seasonal staff members. Manages day-to-day activities of tasting room staff. Submits and approves time statements weekly. Acts as a member of the safety committee and is the head of safety for the hospitality department. Under direction of Homeplace Manager, monitors budgets for wages, operating supplies and events in relation to the tasting room cost centers. Manages inventory of wine needed for the Homeplace operation (tasting room, events and on-site sales) and tracks/reports monthly. Accurately handles routine purchasing transactions, which includes; operating cash register, accounting of daily sales, processing returns and tracking discounts. Processes wine and retail merchandise sales, i.e. pulling orders for customers, completing sales transactions and assisting with wine carry-outs and loading. Is responsible for tasting room inventories and ordering. Must Requirements Education – High school or equivalent; requires reading and writing in English and strong math skills. Knowledge of food and wine industry required. Minimum of two years retail sales experience. Prior experience in wine industry and tasting rooms is required. Knowledge of general wine principals, wine growing and winemaking is strongly preferred. Certifications TIPS Program or equivalent for serving alcohol and recognizing issues involved with being over served. Valid CA Driver’s License required. Must be at least 21 years of age to sell alcohol products. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Wears all PPE as required and follows all safety standards and procedures. Physical Requirements, ability to climb stairs and ladders is needed to stock shelves and arrange displays and decorations. Ability to work on feet for long periods of time, bending and lifting movements, manual dexterity, and ability to lift 40-70lbs is required. Will require work in specialty retail environment. Successful family owned winery outside Healdsburg seeks an enthusiastic candidate for our Tasting Room Team. You will be part of a small tasting room staff pouring wines, making sales and wine club sign-ups. Customer service is a priority so a positive attitude and good salesmanship is a must. In addition, you will give consumer tours and eventually host vineyard walks and wine and cheese pairings. Candidates need to be great communicators and team players.
