  • Details: Santa Rosa, CA – Starting Saturday June 25th local non-profit, Worth our Weight (WOW) will fire up the outdoor oven at Paradise Ridge Winery’s Russian River Valley Estate to serve tasty pizzas and other wine country fare for visitors to enjoy with the wineries artisan wines. The oven will continue to be open every Saturday until October 15th from 12:00 to 3:00. The partnership between Paradise Ridge Winery and WOW will also expand to include a garden cultivated by the apprentices in the near future. The winery is proud to support the work WOW is doing in Sonoma County WOW apprentices are youths who have faced major challenges in their lives. Many find a sense of purpose under the loving guidance of Chef Evelyn Cheatham.   • Details: Rodney Strong presents: Vintner Series - The Effects of Oak on Wine | Justin Seidenfeld Exploring how the use of oak impacts the wine has always fascinated Rodney Strong Winemaker Justin Seidenfeld. A graduate from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. in Viticulture & Enology and having traveled the world to see the premiere wineries and vineyards throughout California, Bordeaux and Burgundy. Justin has gained a comprehensive understanding of how quality land, viticulture, and winemaking practices influence the wine. Join Justin on The Terrace at Rodney Strong Vineyards and explore the different effects oak has on wine. The seminar will look at how the barrel origin, size, and how the barrel toasting process effects the flavors in the wine. We will finish by discussing how a winemaker uses these tools to add to the complexities with in the bottle. The seminar will conclude with a barrel sample and three finished Rodney Strong Cabernets.

  • Details: Founded in 1972, Dry Creek Vineyard celebrates its history of making fine wine in the Dry Creek Valley each August with an exclusive Library Wine Tasting. We open up our cellar and pull a selection of wines from years and sometimes decades gone past. This is an excellent opportunity for you to taste and buy wines that have been properly cellared for five, ten and even twenty years. There is a story in every bottle, and there is no better story time than this. Each year we taste through dozens of library wines, and this August we will be showing the best of the pack. Our Library Wine Flight will be available to the public for the entire month of August. Each Library Flight will consist of five wines and is available in the Dry Creek Vineyard Tasting Room. Wines are subject to availability and may change from week to week. Cost is $15 and is refundable with the purchase of $50 or more.
