“Children of Vineyard Workers Scholarship Fund”

Established in 2002 by the Wilson family, our goal is to raise enough money to meet the demands of all deserving applicants and to build the endowment fund for a legacy of ongoing success. We believe that the children of those who work the vineyards of Sonoma County should not be limited in their pursuit of educational opportunities by financial constraints.

The Wilson Family will match all funds up to $100,000.
100% of your dollars go directly to the scholarship fund.

Merriam VineyardsReservations

Open Daily 10am – 5pm

Native New Englanders Peter and Diana Merriam first envisioned a French-style winery in the United States during their honeymoon in France, where they were struck by the rich culture of food and wine and the seamless quality between life and work among French vignerons. After more than a five-year search for the perfect vineyard with pedigree, they purchased Windacre in 2000 and began blending French-style wines on the warmest edge of the Russian River Valley.

Since acquiring Windacre in 2000, Peter Merriam has taken the first step in creating blends with true vineyard character by complementing the original merlot vines with cabernet franc, petit verdot, and cabernet sauvignon. In other words, the true blending of Merriam Estate wine begins in the estate Windacre Vineyard.

In 2008 Merriam Vineyards proudly introduced their winery and tasting room, where visitors are invited to cross cultures as they taste California-crafted Bordeaux-style wines in a tasting room designed to reflect the comfort and warmth of a New England-style home. We invite you to enjoy a picnic on our beautiful patio overlooking the vineyards.

Merry Edwards WineryReservations

The winery was founded by Merry Edwards in 1997 with the guiding principle that “Great Wines Are Grown,” and it has long been known for its terroir-driven, single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, including the winery flagship Meredith Estate. In 2025, the winery released its first single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, also from the Meredith Estate vineyard. The winery also makes a variety of appellation wines, with Pinot Noirs from Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley, as well as a world-famous Sauvignon Blanc and luscious single-vineyard Chardonnay from the Olivet Lane Vineyard.

Since Merry’s retirement in 2019, this California Certified Sustainable Winery has been led by Merry’s handpicked successor, Heidi von der Mehden, who continues in the tradition that came before her, crafting masterful wines of depth and elegance.

We invite you to join us for a vineyard-view tasting, either in our stunning, flower-filled courtyard or in a relaxed indoor setting. Choose from our Appellation or Reserve Tasting experiences and explore how tradition, innovation and terroir unite to create distinctive wines of unparalleled quality.

ABOUT RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY

World renowned for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the Russian River Valley also offers beautiful landscapes as you travel its back roads and byways—acres of vineyards, tree-lined roads, the Russian River, and majestic Redwood trees. A signature feature of the area is the frequent ocean fog that creeps up the Russian River and blankets the land in the evening, only to retreat with the warming morning sun.

Though Pinot Noir is the best-known varietal from the Russian River Valley region, there are many other delicious wines produced in this cooler climate appellation. Try locally grown and produced Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, and Gewürztraminer if you are seeking some white wine options. In addition to Pinot, red varietals include Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese to name just a few.

Along with many wine tasting choices, this area offers recreational opportunities like kayaking and hiking, quaint towns to explore, and art galleries to wander through. With several towns in the area, you’ll also find many terrific local eateries. So, go forth and explore!
