2019 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Serpentine Ridge – Alexander Valley Estate – Best of Class, Double Gold, 97 points

These tenacious vines cling to a steep hillside, high on the ridge of our Estate property, overlooking the Alexander Valley. The rugged soil is abundant with Serpentine rock that forces the vines to work hard to produce the intense small berries that become our Reserve Cabernet. This single block features the renowned Clone 15 of Cabernet and we are proud to release our Reserve as 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. This allows us to focus on the unique terroir that provides us with complex fruit vintage after vintage. Gorgeous black cherry, plum, currant, and cassis flavors dominante on the palate, leading to a long and elegant finish with ripe, lush tannins and exquisite balance. Our Reserve Cabernet is aged in 100% French oak barrels, with 50% new oak, for 18 months. This balanced barrel program helps enhance the structure and age-worthiness of this luxe wine, which will continue to improve in bottle for the next 10+ years.
