9:00    Call to order

Attending: John Viszlay, Carla Jeffries, Carri Holdredge, Beth Costa

Absent: Dan Christensen (tax season), Devin Ruddick (awaiting baby!)


9:02    Review January Meeting Minutes

Minutes approved.

9:06    Treasurer’s Report

Note – Beth moved $48,000 to “contract employee” to account for our PR Manager,

leaving balance of $27,000 in Public Relations.

Checking: $116,273.91

Savings: $180,125.92

We will need a Budget meeting to reevaluate new numbers post Barrel Tasting.


9:10    Website – new site launched! “A Perfect Day” needs to link somewhere – a new blog- “find your perfect day.” Back-end for wineries hasn’t changed. Need more wineries to review it. Cassidy is still planning to add more Day Trips to website, as well as upload Podcasts. She will be paid $25/hour contract rate. 

9:15    Events

Barrel Tasting: Still waiting on feedback from participating wineries re: Friday night event.

Wine & Food Affair – Clark Wolf: Meeting with Clark today at 11:30am. Identified top 20 wineries to recruit for W&FA. Possible cooking class with Donna Del Ray of Relish (20 people in a class at Relish). Consumer must purchase W&FA ticket to get access to any of the 3rd party events. Review ticket prices at next Retreat meeting.

9:40    Retreat

Agenda – end of day tasting. Day 1 will focus just on Events (WW; BT; W&FA).

9:45   Marketing & Public Relations

-Recent press from Allison, new story, plus more in the works. Barbara also working on stories for a 2 day trip.

-Planned trip to LA cancelled – not worth it.

-Going to VinDiego in San Diego, April 11-13; Press luncheon.

-Sonoma House- May 26th (Tue-Fri) AV, DC, RR, and Sonoma Valley will be represented. Beth playing a minor role this year.

  • Mysty is due for a review. She has been at the same rate for the past 2- 2 ½ years.

10:00  Old Business

-Key Partner Program: Three partners include WIN; Sonoma Sterling; Visit Santa Rosa. Goal of 10 partners total.

-Surveys: Honor to do presentation at Retreat.

10:10  New Business

Staff update: Cassidy left WR for “Volunteer Coordinator” position at REFB. WR is not planning to replace the position at this time, will use Interns.

-Retreat may be rescheduled for May.

– Possible WR messages sent via Facebook Messenger instead of traditional email. Misty working with our website designer to get Messenger connected to our emails.

-Custom Google dashboard for our reports.

-“How to Taste Wine” video by John Beck (video of 2 newbies & a winemaker)

-Also creating Drone footage video.

-WR was approved by Trip Advisor as a Destination Management Business.

-Lodgings & new key Partners: Meet & Greet- planned for May 15th at Kendal Jackson.

-New Exec Board: John Viszlay will be President; Devin Ruddick is possible VP; Treasury either Danny, Stephanie, or Lillian; Carri will remain Secretary. Beth will contact & confirm with these candidates, then put it to the Board at the Retreat
