Introduction to the Jeweler’s Bench with Silversmiths Jack & Janette Burton

Join this hands-on class and learn how to make a pair of silver earrings from scratch using only hand tools. All the materials you need are included, and you’ll take home your very own creation. After class, enjoy a wine tasting along with a cheese and charcuterie plate. $200 per person includes all materials, the earrings you made in class, wine tasting, and cheese & charcuterie plate. Class size limited to 6 students ensures personalized attention. No previous experience necessary. Supplies include: • Teaching materials and handouts with list of sources and supplies. • A class workbook and design journal • Sterling Silver wire, disks, and beads • All necessary tools with practice materials, and polishing goods Event Timeline: 10am Class Part One — Jack’s lecture and demonstration on silversmithing history, cold-forging, design, layout, stamping, chasing, planishing, engraving and polishing. Students will have the opportunity to cold-forge a pair of Sterling Silver Mountain Rose disks with the tabletop tool kit. (2 ½ hours) 12:30 Short Break 12:45 Class Part Two — Hands-on teaching of wire forming. Each student will create a pair of Sterling Silver ear wires to suspend their pendants creating their own earrings to take home. (1 ¼ hour) 2-3:00pm DeLoach Wine Tasting with Cheese & Charcuterie plate. Enjoy a tasting of DeLoach Vineyard Designate wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel.
