What is Melon? Join us for a fun exploration of this rare white wine varietal, known as the “oyster wine” in its native France. Robert Young Estate Vineyards is one of the only places in the US where the Melon de Bourgogne grape is planted, and has been crafted into two different expressions of the grape by Matt Michael, winemaker at RYEW and Kara Groom, winemaker at Rara Wine Co. Meet and mingle with the winemakers as they explain the origin of this rare grape and their different winemaking approaches for this highly aromatic, dry white wine with crisp minerality that make it a perfect pairing for oysters. Guests will enjoy the Melon with a ½ dozen Miyagi oysters from Bodega Bay Oyster Company and a selection of light bites. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon with live music and a chance to sip like a Sommelier, who prize the unique attributes of this rare varietal When: Saturday, July 12th, 2025, 2:00pm–5:00pm. Where: The Scion House at Robert Young Estate Winery. Fee: $85 per person (includes a half dozen oysters, light bites, and all the wine you could ask for)
