The season of sharing lasted all year long for the Wine Road.
Historically, the Wine Road gives back to the community every year through donations to local charities, which includes $1 from every event ticket sold. During 2016, their 40th anniversary year, the Wine Road wanted to not only raise funds for local charities, but also to increase awareness for the need within the Wine Country community to support those who might not have the comforts or health of others.
2016 Donations
Here are the donation highlights for 2016, listing the event, the charity and how much as raised and donated:
Ruby Affair in May

Worth Our Weight $20,000
Community Festival “40 Years of Cheers” in July

Fitch Mountain Forever $500
Grand total charitable donations by the Wine Road for 2016:
$100,000
In addition, the Wine Road donated $6000 in high school scholarships and in-kind donations of event tickets and cookbooks to more than 50 organizations for fundraising and raffles, valued at about $5000.
That is a whole lot of sharing going on.
Your Season of Sharing
As 2016 comes to a close, I encourage you to embrace this season of sharing as well. Whether you donate money, goods or your time, think about making the coming year a season of sharing all year long. The smallest contribution can make a difference. Even if it is just to attend the upcoming Wine Road events, where a portion of the ticket sales are donated to the Redwood Empire Food Bank.
Be sure to check out the 25th annual Winter WINEland and Barrel Tasting 2017—the 40th anniversary of barrel tasting along the Wine Road.
That’s a wrap for 2016. In 2017, Along the Wine Road will be featuring stories from the lives of the Wine Road members, along with my regular blog posts. Stay tuned.
Happy Sipping!
