Redwood Empire Food Bank – Volunteers Needed

Beth Costa on Jul 22, 2020

To all of our Wine Road Winery and Lodging members –

– The Redwood Empire Food Bank is desperate for some volunteer help.
– The numbers that they are seeing, are staggering.

Please pass along this information to your entire team, someone may have the opportunity to help out or they may have friends or family that can lend a hand.

Odd it as it may seem, in these trying times, having YOUR crew volunteer together, may be a “feel good” moment they would all appreciate right now.

Thanks,
Beth

Good morning Beth,

I hope you are staying healthy and safe during these uncertain times. COVID-19 has heavily impacted our community, and many people are finding themselves at the Redwood Empire Food Bank’s doorstep for the very first time. You can help! Please consider joining us for a volunteer shift.

Since March, we have served over 454,650 children, seniors, and adults across the five counties we serve. We have seen a 280% recipient increase since the beginning of the pandemic, and we’re currently serving an average of 40,000 emergency food boxes per month. This is the highest demand for food assistance we’ve ever seen. To help us keep up, we are humbly asking for your support.

Our number one need right now is volunteers. Without volunteers, we will not be able to get food out to those facing hunger. I wanted to reach out and see if Wine Road would be interested in setting up some time to come and volunteer, or help us spread the word to your members that we need help.

Volunteers help glean produce, pack emergency boxes, and distribute food. Please know everyone’s safety is our priority and we’re taking all CDC recommended precautions. Volunteers are outdoors, required to wear masks and gloves, spaced at least 6ft apart, and provided hand sanitizer.

Please CLICK HERE for shift times and availability. If you are interested in scheduling time together as a group, please call or email me directly at eberry@refb.org .

Thank you in advance, and we look forward to having you help us end hunger in our community!

Liz
