A new wine for us. Planted by Bruce and Moira Conzelman in 2001, but the block I worked with is from 2014, low hillsides. These vines were initially used for their own label, Harmonique wines. The winemaker was Robert Klindt, owner of Claudia Springs winery. The vineyard is also considered Deep End in Anderson Valley. 66% clone 2A (Wadenswill) 34% Pommard clone #5. Tasting Notes: Dark ruby with a twinge of purple. Full blown spice on the nose! Dark black fruited with a hint of clove, anise and sandalwood. Really quite pleasant and esoteric, kind of the “Summer of Love” aromatics… Well integrated toasty oak too. Soft plum and black cherry on the palate, smooth as silk with just the right finish begging for more, light acidity that blends seamlessly with the wine’s structure. Could be a quaffer, but more refined than that. Finishes rich and fruity. Really quite enjoyable now but should develop for another couple of years is my guess. My go to would be just on its own, or with a plethora of hard cheeses!
