Romance Along the Wine Road

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so now is the time to plan some romance along the Wine Road. With so many wonderful opportunities awaiting you, you might make it a weekend stay.

With just a few inquires, I found that from February 10 through 19, wineries and lodgings along the Wine Road are offering some fantastic opportunities well worth exploring.

I know this is a very long blog, but it includes lists of romantic lodging specials, Valentine’s wine tastings and pairings, a Valentine’s brunch and several dinners, a romantic lodging that include dinner, and help finding the perfect romantic gift.

If your favorite Wine Road winery or lodging isn’t on my list, be sure to check their website or give them a call.

Romantic Lodging Specials

Even if you live locally, it’s fun to have a romantic getaway with your sweetie. Along the Wine Road you’ll find some tantalizing lodging specials.

Romantic setting with a bed and candles.Bella Villa Messina—This majestic estate has panoramic views of the Wine Country near Healdsburg. During the Valentine’s week, they are offering complimentary champagne and chocolate in every room.

Camellia Inn—A blend of vintage charm and modern luxury amenities, this B&B has a Sweetheart of a package for you during February 13th – 15th. Get one night in a romantic queen or king room, chocolate afternoon treats, evening chocolate port, gourmet chocolate goods in your room, a chocolate treat included on the breakfast menu, an aromatherapy bath gift box to use during your stay or take home, wine and snacks before dinner, and full breakfast buffet. Wow! What a deal.

Farmhouse Inn—Voted as one of Sonoma’s premier lodgings, this inn is offering half-off their romance package during the month of February.

Fern Grove Cottages—Enjoy champagne, chocolates and three nights for the price of two!

H2 Hotel—Enjoy a relaxing and romantic spa getaway. Sleep in sustainable style for one night and refresh yourselves at The Spa at their sister Hotel Healdsburg with a seasonably themed 50-minute couple’s massage.

Hilton Garden Inn—Book the Romance Package and receive in-room sparkling wine or cider upon arrival, plus a full breakfast for two in their restaurant.

Honor Mansion—Romance your loved one with “Pillow Talk,” a Valentine’s Day Special available during February 10th – 12th. It includes a bottle of local sparkling wine, treats from Downtown Bakery and Creamy, and a private seated tasting at one of their winery partners.

Hotel Healdsburg—Check out this heavenly hiatus they call “Romance in Bloom.” This romantic package includes a two-night stay, a 100-minute couple’s spa treatment, a chef’s five-course tasting menu for two at the Dry Creek Kitchen, harvest breakfast each morning, valet parking, and full concierge service.

Hotel La Rose—If your sweetie loves roses and champagne, this just might be what you are looking for. The Romance with Roses package can be added to any existing or new reservation by calling the hotel directly at 707-579-3200.

Valentine’s Wine Tastings & Pairings

If you love wine and are looking for something special to celebrate Valentine’s day, you have ample choices. Many wineries along the Wine Road will be offering special wine and food pairings during the Valentine’s holiday weekends and week. Here is a list of just some of them.

Alexander Valley Vineyards is offering to tempt your Valentine with a taste of their 2013 Temptation Zinfandel paired with a Chocolate Cabernet Couverture sauce. From February 10 – 19, they will also have special pricing for their Wicked Weekend of Zinfandels.

Amphora Winery will be celebrating all things Italiano on Saturday, February 11th by pouring their Italian varietals and blends paired with Mediterranean-inspired appetizers and antipasti. Attendees will be offered event-only discounts. Advanced reservations are recommended.

Sparkling Rosé, chocolate and port will be just some of the fun at Christopher Creek from February 10th – 14th. They’ll be pairing their 2013 Petite Sirah Port with decadent dark chocolate, plus their Sparkling Rosé will be on sale. If you want to have a picnic during your outing, check out their selection of local artisan meats and cheeses.

Christopher Creek winesGet romantic at Dutton Goldfield on Valentine’s weekend (Feb. 11th) with an Aphrodisiac Wine & Food Pairing Class with Master of Gastronomy Amy Reiley. Advance tickets are recommended for this taste bud popping experience.

Dutton Estate Winery will be one of 12 wineries participating in Sweet 116 on Saturday, February 11th from 11 to 4. Enjoy decadent treats and delicious wines along Hwy 116 near Sebastopol.

Family Wineries in Dry Creek Valley will be serving Wild Mushroom Bisque and a Chocolate Truffle on Saturday and Sunday, February 11th & 12th from 11 – 4. Reservations are recommended for this indulgent pleasure.

La Crema’s Healdsburg Tasting Lounge is offering two uniquely titled tasting flights on Saturday, Feb. 11th from 10:30 -5. You can chose from the “Haters Flight” or the “Daters Flight.” Both flights conclude with a delicious bite paired with the final wine. Reservations are not required.

Join Matrix Winery For the Love of Gold event on Saturday, February 11th from 11 – 5. Taste their 2017 SF Chronicle Gold Medal winning wines and enjoy the beauty of Russian River Valley. To RSVP, contact Jessica@matrixwinery.com.

Valentine’s Wine, Herb + Chocolate Pairing at Paradise Ridge. Enjoy this flirty and fun sensory experience that highlights the chemistry behind food & wine pairing using an approachable method anyone can enjoy – chocolate. Pellegrini has wine and chocolate covered the weekend of Friday, February 10th – Sunday, February 12th. Their wines will be paired with artisan chocolates from Sonoma Chocolatiers. Reservations are recommended.

Simoncini Vineyards will be offering complimentary tasting of their newly released Zinfandel, Sparkling Pinot Noir Rosé and “Robusto” Late Harvest Zinfandel paired with delicious sweet and savory bites.

Savor a magical evening at Fog Crest Vineyard on Saturday, February 11th where Chef Ken Rochioli will serve a five-course dinner designed to pair with Fog Crest’s wines, including a gem from their reserve library. Advanced reservations required.

Help Pedroncelli kick off their 90th anniversary celebration by joining them on Saturday, February 11th for an enticing dinner prepared by Chef Brian Anderson of Bistro 29 paired with their wines. Reserve your tickets here.

Siduri’s new Wine Lounge in Healdsburg will be hosting a Valentine’s dinner on Tuesday, February 14th at 5:00 or 7:30 p.m. Siduri Winemaker Adam Lee and Chefs Daniel Kedan and Marianna Gardenhire couple beautiful wines with elegant cuisine. Ticket price will include fives wine pairing and five-course dinner throughout the night.

Sonoma-Cutrer is partnering with renowned Chef John Ash on Saturday, February 11th for an elegant Valentine’s dinner celebration. Enjoy passed appetizers, a three-course dinner, and a Pt. Reyes Cheese Company dessert tasting all perfectly paired with Sonoma-Cutrer’s wines.

Join the folks at Trattore Farms on Saturday, February 18th for their first Winemaker Dinner. Chef Chuck Ross of F.A. Ninos will serve dinner in the cellar, which will include pairings with library and new release wines. Reservations required.

Trentadue will be serving bubbly brunch on Sunday, February 12th. It will include treats from Costeaux Bakery, smoked salmon, bagels, local artisan cheese and their Grand Cuvee Champagne. Plus, they’ll be offering their wines and port, and a chocolate and coffee bar. Enjoy a game of Spin the Bottle and the “Best Pickup Line” contest. All this and 40% off on featured wines will make this brunch worth checking out.

Romantic Lodging & Dinner

Mazzocco Winery and the Grape Leaf Inn have teamed up to offer a Valentine Weekend Escape. The package includes a wine and cheese reception on Friday, February 10th, a bottle of wine in your room, breakfast on Saturday morning, dinner at the Inn on Saturday, February 11th, and then brunch and a late check out on Sunday the 12th. The package price is $799 per couple.
