93 Points – A compote of mixed fruits and baked apple, with pepper, dried flowers and herbs, sagebrush, licorice, orange peel, a crushed rock minerality and an earthy Syrah addition providing hints of soy sauce, tobacco leaf, and tar. Darker in both color and aromas than past vintages, the 2018 Kupferschmid Red is a medium bodied blend of Rhone varietals, dominated by Grenache’s red fruits and good acidity.
