J. Rickards Winery – 2022 Petite Sirah, Brown Barn Vineyard – Alexander Valley Estate

This vineyard is located on the east-facing hillside next to the brown barn at the winery. It is a selection of Petite Sirah clones collected by Jim from old Sonoma County vineyards over the last 42 years. Gentle grape processing creates a classic Petite Sirah without over extraction. The wine has a wonderful nose of wild blueberries and in the mouth it explodes with juicy blueberries and blackberries, yet it has that great Petite Sirah backbone of black pepper and structure to last. It is perfectly paired with roasted vegetables, braised meats and rich sauces.
