12:06 – Review Retreat Notes

  • Retreat Notes are going to be circulated to full board for members to read/review before June 8th meeting.

12:15 -Treasurer’s Report

  • Checking:  $197,600.10
  • Savings:  $171,009.49
  • Review Profit & Loss
    • Discussion
      • Each of the 3 big events, Debbie is to get a bonus which is not reflected in numbers
      • Ticket to  Wine Road – Beth is confident goal will be achieved
      • Seminar fees – fees for speakers are covered plus additional
      • Podcast – goal is to get sponsorship

12:40 – Empty Seat on Board

  • Newly elected Alyson White left Coppola to Gary Ferrell, but she is unable to commit to the time due to her new job
  • Goal is to fill her seat with an Alexander valley representative
    • Some potential reps include, Harry Wetzel of Alexander Valley and Ross from J Rickard Vineyards.

12:50 – Review Outline for Wine Road Club – recommendations

  • Goal is to launch January 2018
  • Pricepoint = $100 per person / $175 per couple
    • Aaron suggests trying to add lodging discount
  • Benefit to become a Wine Road Consumer Club Member is “Access”

    • Inside scoop
    • First option to buy tickets for Wine Maker Breakfasts and Mystery Tours

1:15 – Review outline for Partnerships

  • Review 2 page handout
    • Benefits as a partner

      • Board members disagreed on membership price for partnership
      • Members voted (4:1) that membership fee is to be $125
    • Possible Partners – citer / distillers / brewers / cheese / chocolate / farm trails

1:25 – Review Outline for Harvest Experience – recommendations

  • Review handout
    • Debate of 1 day vs 2 day experience and consumer expectations
      • So many issues and details that the board has decided to let the event committee to hammer it out

1:30 – Events

  • Magical Mystery Tours
    • Wine Road office is to reach out and personally contact participating wineries with expectations on food/tasting
  • Winemaker Breakfasts
    • May breakfast was cancelled
    • July breakfast is still trying to happen
  • Wine & food Affair – sign up procedure, social requirements
    • Mandatory that each winery share/promote event 1x on social media and must pour 3 wines minimum unless board approves less due to special circumstance
  • Rhone Event
    • Up to 10 wineries pouring at Sonoma Cider
    • Minimum of 3 Rhone varieties are to be poured by each participant

1:50 – Marketing / PR

  • Money is to be funneled to the following:
    • Remnant Ads
    • BART Foodie Websites
    • Food and Wine Magazine – $1200 vs $1500
  • Bloggers Conference, Wine Tourism Conference
    • Tasting for conference / promote Mystery tours
  • Omaha
    • Beth met today with Avenue Scholars – pending
    • July was not possible / WR will commit to November
  • Sunset Celebration
    • Next year at Cornerstone Winery
    • “Destination Wine road”
    • WR opted out due to advertising requirement

1:55 – Membership

  • Laura now managing member pages online, visiting new members
  • Pizza Lunches – cancelled due to lack of interest
    • Beth’s door is always open for member input

1:58 – Beth’s Goals

  • Beth submitted goals for 18 month time frame – pending board approval
    • Exec Board to review Beth’s goals on own time
  • Exec Board to meet with Scott prior to next meeting
    • Should goals only be based on revenue making items?
    • 80-100% of goals should be obtained  in order for Beth to be issued a reward based on said goals
