The debut of our 2021 Acta Pinot Noir saw near perfect growing conditions in Sonoma County. Drought conditions in Northern California led to smaller than average crops and tiny clusters provided a concentrated, delicious Pinot Noir. The cuvée for 2021 was built around two vineyards, one in a cooler pocket near the town of Sebastopol which we harvested on September 21st, the other on September 15th in the equally cool Green Valley of the Russian River. The Sebastopol vineyard which makes up nearly 75% of the blend, is decidedly pure in flavor, Bing cherry and red currants drive the nose with fresh acidity and great density on the mid-palate. The smaller portion of the blend from Green Valley is our pinch of spice, hailing from older dry-farmed vines near the town of Graton, this portion of the blend provides baking spice and forest floor, elements we crave in Pinot Noir. Together the two wines provide harmony on the palate, textural and full. Acid and tannin work wonderfully together producing a seductive wine with a delicious finish.
